I have been running the latest version of deskncrt with stepper motor
feedback disabled(DOS) and it is doing very, very well. Carl has fixed most
of the bugs. I have been able to set it up so that the Pentium 200 can run
the steppers faster than they can run. It looks like it will run systems at
very high speeds if they are capable of running at high speed.
I also loaded it onto a 486-66 and set the max velocity to 50 IPM and it
seemed to run great. I have had nothing but problems with the earlier
version of this program on this machine so I was delighted to see it run so
well on the 486-66.
There are a few new bugs that need to be fixed. One is that the abort
doesn't work promptly. The other is that it if the program stops due to a
limits error and you type enable again the machine takes off running to only
it knows where. Again these were not problems with the earlier version so
I.m sure it will be readily fixable.
I hope to add some encoders and one of my DRO boards to see how the feedback
works over the weekend.
Stay tuned for further updates.
