Direct CAD CAM control of a Taig Mill
Below is a link to a video I made of my program SuperCamXp running a Taig Micro Mill with Servo motors controlling the three coordinate axis.
The servo motor controller is controlled via the USB port so there is no issues with a parallel port compatibility. I did make the controller with a parallel interface for legacy programs to control it.
My idea was to build a CAD interface that I could draw tool movements and make the machine follow the drawing I had made. The idea was to be able to draw and cut.
For most complex drawings I found myself creating the drawing in another application and importing the DXF or HPGL files. I found that I needed to be able to edit the imported drawings for efficient use as tool paths.
SuperCamXp has commands for to Move, Copy, Erase, Array, Mirror, Offset, SwapEnd, Rotate, Scale and change the order execution.
In SuperCamXp the drawing becomes the tool path program. Machine control is direct and animated on the screen.
Hope you enjoy the video.
