Even though you have quite a bit of torque with those motors you will likely
want to use a toothed belt drive to get decent resolution. I have found
McMaster Carr to be a reasonable source of steel timing belt pulleys and the
belts. Purchased some from a local industrial supply house and ended up
paying about double what McMaster gets for the exact same Martin brand steel
pulleys.

I have used WD-40 in the past. Spray it on, let it sit a while and then hit
it with a stiff bristle brush.
