The answer to that is the BOSS system really sucks. That is why the iron is
usually in such good condition. They didn't get used that much.
Also in answer to an earlier question, The BOSS controls are on both series
1 and series 2 iron. BOSS stand for "B"ridgeport "O"perating "S"ystem
"S"eries and started at "3" and continued to at least "10". BOSS 3 through
BOSS 6 are stepper based and BOSS 7 and up are servo based. The iron on the
BOSS 3 through BOSS 6 is better than the latter versions. Starting with the
BOSS 7, the iron is the same as the manual mill, not the heavier duty ways
of the older CNCs.
