John: I do not know "GM code", nor do I have a clue how "professionals do
it", but I can tell you what I have been doing for about 30 years, with
totally-home-brew CNC: I have the (BASIC!!!) programs step only the
"integer" values to the next-nearest whole number, and if any fraction, this
is "saved" in a temporary, accumulating "F" (fraction) variable until IT is
greater than one, and then that integer is added to the next step-variable,
and any fraction is likewise saved and added to the "F" in the next, and
so-on. THis way, there are no accumulated errors larger than ONE step (or
half-step). And, if your "theoretical resolution" is 75 millionths, you
better maintain your room-temp. at 21.1°C, and always use the same brand and
"W" of oil on your lathe-ways!!! Jan Rowland, Troll
