Glad to hear it.
Suggestion for the usage of the pins. I know its configurable, but
just in case:
Data (p2-9) 4 sets step/dirs
status (p10,11,12,13,15) E stop,4 limit loops, suggest Normally
Closed switches in the loop, more failsafe (let the s/w determine
whether we're homing,stopping,or...)
Control (p1,14,16,17) Spindle,Drive enable,IO1,IO2 (IO's used for
coolant/dust collection/spindle encoder for lathes)
This gives a lot from one port. A second port can then do axis
encoders, add'l IO, etc.
Just my 2 cents,
