Moving (unloading) large machines..

Group,

If I need to unload a large machine off a truck or trailer I rent a
forklift. Last time I rented one it cost $150 to have the rental
company drop a forklift off at my place. $200+/- seems to be the
average 4 hour rate around here. That covers rental for 4 hours, but
they usually don't come back and pick it up for at least 24 hours.

My most recent aquisition was a 4 foot Chicago press brake and
Pullmax nibbler. Fairly heavy and given their designs, not easy
items to move on skids and pipes. That was $150 well spent. Not
only did it make unloading the machines a snap, I was able to do all
the machine re-arranging I wanted, plus I scored some points by doing
a little shuffling of some heavy stuff for a neighbor.

I'm in Seattle and I assume all cities have similiar deals through
industrial rental outlets. They drop the forklift off on the street
or your business even if you aren't there. The accepted practise is
to leave the key under the seat. When you're done leave it back
where they dropped it off with the key under the seat. (Maybe a
little more security necessary in some areas).

The forklifts have always been near new, in excellent condition.
Very easy to use, even for those who have never been on one before.

My days of struggling with heavy machines are over forever!!!
