I don'y know what the situation is in the US but here in the Uk we have
different types of skip trucks [ read dumpsters ]
We have the big version that lift up over the cab and dump into the back.
I've also seen them in US films.
We also have the type that have two hydraulic arms at the rear that swing a
skip up off the floor onto the truck back.
The larger ones of these can easily handle 10 tons weight. Also running
these is part of the skip service and they don't charge as much as the
dedicated lifting guys.
Nice thing is with these is that once the slings are round the machine and
they have weight the machine is between the two arms so it can't drop
nowhere.
The little mini Ford Transit based ones can take up to 2 ton.
I can get local machines moved by these for about 20 - 25 UKP about $30 -
$35.
These trucks do a lot of empty running so if you work it in with them you
can usually get a good deal.
