Yes, things do happen. We had a pump on order, a boiler feed pump for a 1000
psi boiler that generated 1,500,000 lbs of steam an hour. Big heavy sucker.
The delivery truck driver got lost and started up a steep hill. Out slid the
pump onto the roadway! Next problem, how to get several tons of pump back
into the truck. After that checking for damage (lucked out, only slight
damage) But that little episode put the project behind schedule for a few
weeks. That was unit 2 of a projected 4 unit plant and poor unit 2 had
nothing but bad luck. Besides the pump, blown transformers (sabetoge
suspected) boiler furnace explosion (fire went out with too rich gas mix,
then blew) Seems as if some projects are trouble from the get-go.
