RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Drawings MiniRobo CNC stationary gantry design

Hi Dennis,.

Are the drawings for the Minirobo available as individual drawings? If so I
would really appreciate a copy. I am presently converting my Sherline 5400
to CNC but I have a strong desire to build a gantry style machine with high
speed spindle for engraving and wood routing. The Minirobo looks like what
I need.

Thanks

I am the creator of the drawings mentioned, you all are welcome to them
for
personal use. I made five minirobo's. Occasionally I sell them, but not
often. Providing the drawing's does NOT imply that I am surrendering my
copyright or granting an open license to manufacture these machines for
resale. I have been perfecting this design and ultimately intend to
manufacture and sell them. As for right now they are not for sale.

The demo version of SuperCam can be used to view the DXF file. And if you
look close, on the right side is the actual tool paths to cut the parts
out
with a .125 end mill, leaving tabs to break the parts out like in a
plastic
model car. With the demo version you can export the g-codes.

For me, the cool thing about the minirobo is that is a machine that I made
with a machine that I made with a computerized Drill Mill. Yes, I said it
right. I computerized a Drill/Mill with which I made a computerized
router
that I used to machine the acrylic to make the MiniRobo's. The website is
show and tell regarding where you can go with using desktop computers as
machine controllers. It represents the completion of a personal goal I
set
for myself many years ago. By the way I did this without knowing a darn
thing about G-codes.

The current inherent problem with the minirobo's design is that I used
Polyurethane to cast the lead screw nuts. I was unable to get consistent
results mostly because the lead screws are not as perfectly consistent as
I
had originally thought. Should you make a machine derived from the
drawing
it would give me great pleasure to see pictures of what you have made.
