Yep, and you machine the screw-end so it is a TIGHT interference-fit into the
bearings, and you machine your pillow-block of ONE piece, so the bearings
nearly press-fit into that, and "clamp" the end-one with a screw-on end-cap
(i.e., fine workmanship), you will have a FINE-running screw-mount! That
DOES make a difference! I saw the three arrangements for screw-end bearings
in the BSA catalog, and wondered, and then thought, "Well, with $3800 worth
of screws and ball-nuts, I might as well do the end-bearings "best way"!",
and I am glad I did! a 12' long 1.5" dia. 1/2" pitch ball-screw needs some
proper support!
