Hi all,
The powerbasic FIRSTBASIC compiler is a free issue of their Ver.1
compiler. It's at:
http://www.powerbasic.com/files/pub/
AS:
FIRSTBAS.ZIP
This compiler was used by Kevin Carroll while writing stepster, also
used by SHOPBOT to create their WHOA (works happily on anything)
software. And by T-Tech in their PCB engraving machine S/W.
The other links on the page provide a wealth of examples/knowledge
for someone beginning to program. Or trying to remember what he/she
USED to know!
Hope this helps.

P.S. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do REAL programming in
BASIC! The powerbasic compilers are state of the art (small
executables, FAST) and include MANY modern programming structures and
commands.(pointers, dynamic strings, User defined types;UDT, etc.)
