small servos

Hi all,
I just gotta ask: Someone on the list commented that they
had a bunch (100 or so) servo motors off old printers. From
the description they sounded like those off some early DEC
printers.
Servo with encoder disk on back.
With all the activity in the Sherline class of machine;
would these be appropriate?
Or are they a step up from there because of size.
The one I have is 38 oz-in 1250 rpm and must have a 1000+
line encoder. Lets see....if those char were 6 x 9 then
(6+1)*132 would give 924 counts/rev ....and with quaduature
3696. That should be enough resolution.
