Smith and Co. (5100 Channel Ave / Richmond, Ca 94804 1-510-237-6842), just
down the road from where I work, makes a product called "Clear Penetrating
Epoxy Sealer." This is a DIY product, which will actually wick into the
end grain of wood and totally penetrate it.
