As long as the backlash between the motor and the linear encoder is
small, it should work. Generally, forget using this with Acme screws,
as the machine will start hunting from one side of the backlash to the
other, constantly. If the encoder has a resolution of .0005" (standard
for DRO's) then you may not get very smooth operation, and, obviously,
a move of .0001" has no meaning.
