EMC is a machine control, not a CAD/CAM package. Even Bobcad/CAM
can generate a shaded, 3/D image of a part (with a lot of limitations).

Virtual Gibbs is not a machine control, it is a very high end CAD/CAM
package. But, you can't cut metal with it, it only instructs some OTHER
system to do the actual cutting.

But, EMC will give you a 3D (or 2-D, if you like) picture of the toolpath
(not the part), and will check the program for compatibility with the
language dialect EMC uses and the constraints of the machine you are
running it with. If the program calls for moves outside the machine's
envelope, or moves axes the machine doesn't have, you get a message.
