Dave: This was probably an "innocent" error not so much due to that "common
language separation", but due to a minimally-paid "clark" gal with a
public-school education! I recently sent a bingo-card to Sears for their
recently-introduced "Industrial Equipment and Tools" catalog, and for
"Title", I put "Geriatric". (I'm retired). Address label came back,
"Geriatric, at: [address]". About ten days later, a Sears lady in Chicago
called to inquire if I got the catalog. I said, "TWO! One has my full first
name, and second has only first initial. All else is exactly the same!" She
says, "Fine. Can you tell me, are you a hospital, or what?" "No! Why do
you ask me THAT?" "Because it says here, 'Geriatric'. Can you tell me what
that is?" "You really don't know? That is an OLD person! You never heard
of a "Geriatric home"? For old folks?" "Oh. Nevermind." [hung up]. I kid
you not!
