Since the subject of posting drawings has come up, I thought my $.02 should
be tossed in.
JPG or jpeg is a lossy image format. It always loses image quality, and it
is optimized for 24 bit color images. Line drawings are far more efficiently
compressed by GIF, which is lossless. In addition, by first reducing color
depth to 1 bit (black & white) for drawings, a more compact file is made.
Smaller files-> faster downloads.
Of course for photos, JPG is the right way to go.
