"An XYZ file is an ASCII file that contains the X, Y and Z coordinates for a set of vertices arranged in an M by N array.
M is the number of columns of data and N is the number of rows of data. After the data has been read by StlTrans,
it can be written as a polyline mesh to a DXF file or converted to a 3D object that can be saved to any supported file
format. A set of three floating point numbers represents the X, Y and Z coordinates of a vertex.
StlTrans is now free with purchase of StlWork for $250. StlWork can comp for a tool size different from the probe size, which is a major hurdle when scanning then trying to cut the scanned data. It also means that you can use a large cutter to rough, taking big hogging cuts, and then come back and take tiny little peckers to make a fine and accurate finish.
Also Amapi 3D solid modeler ($399) directly supports the Microscribe arms.
