Actually 76-77 was near the end of the Focal era. I started as a Sales
Engineer for DEC in Feb 1969, and Focal was doing well then. It ran on
a 4k (12bit words) machine. In 1972 I moved to Massacuhsetts and later
worked with the author of Focal, Rick Merrill.

I still have a whole set of the DEC handboks from that era, with a Focal
maunal, as well as 8K Fortran and several other languages. My favorite
was the 'big' TSS-8, a timesharing system for up to 32 users on a 32k
PDP8, with a 32k disk. The big disk option was 256k

Those were the days my friend.....
