Our first computer in my work area of the Geophysics Dept at UCLA
was a PDP 8L, using a teletype 33 and Focal. We had 8K and a
paper tape reader on the Teletype. This was my first experience
with programming.... I wrote a couple Focal programs and that
was it. Haven't done a thing since and am happy as a clam.

On the other hand, data sharing in the scientific world via
computer and phone lines was started in 1967 at UCLA. I did take
part in that and can probably say that I have been on the
internet (in one form or another) since its inception.
