My Miltronics Millslide uses 23mm wide linear ballslides (1994 vintage).
It is my understanding later machines use 34mm wide slides. The slides
are mounted about 6" apart with the ball screw mounted between. The
Z axis motor is equipped with a brake which releases when the
control is powered-up. Otherwise the slide would roll down on
the ballscrew when the power is off.
There is no knuckle on my machine. The millslide is mounted directly
to the flat face of the ram. The base machine is a Mighty Comet mill.
Similar in size to a Lagun. Larger than a series 1 BP. It has a 10X52
table and a 3hp spindle motor.
