Marcus,

Granite and marble grave stones can often be had VERY inexpensively.
Three sobering thoughts go with it, though.
1)They have been used. And replaced, or upgraded, or the cemetary has
switched to "easier to mow" flat markers.
2)They are "misprints". Sorta like the printer who got your phone
number wrong when he printed your business cards.
3)They MAY be, but are NOT necessarily FLAT!

Re:cutting an L shape, nowadays most monument companies are similar
to modern sign shops.(they bring in standard materials, use a couple
of standard processes to mfr, and put the work out) Although you may
find a true "letterhead"(master sign painter) or "granitehead"(master
granite craftsman??), the odds get lower every day. And the price
goes up.

However, embedding bolts in granite is a lot like bolts in concrete.
And this means bolting together two plates is prob'ly a better way to
achieve your goal.

BTW, "raw" gravestones are at least as expensive as the import
surface plates I mentioned in an earlier thread.

Hope this helps.
