I ran a cross a Company called NOOK Industries (NOOKIND.COM)the other
day and they have a very good selection of both ACME and ball lead
screws. Their prices are very reasonable and you can get almost any
length, diameter and pitch (lead) you could want. They also have a
line of polished ACME lead screws with high precision nuts in brass
and plastic. I ordered a full set of ACME lead screws for my Smithy
1220 XL (for all axis- X, Y, the mill quill (am modifying it to a Z
axis drive) and even the compound slide/tool holder). Total cost of
all four screws, cut to lenght and finished on one end for thrust
bearings and the other for a drive mechanism andthe matching nuts was
less than $200.00. I'll keep you posted on how they work.
