[I don't have one of the extended slide models, but in general what I do is
to run it to one side of the travel, tighten up the setscrews all the way
(snug, not tight) then back them off about an eighth of a turn. Then run it
to the other side and repeat the process. If it moves smoothly the whole
way, locktite the screws in place, so they don't vibrate out of position.
Use a medium-weight oil on the ways, and relube frequently. It sounds like
you're trying to get it too tight- that won't work with these mills. If
this doesn't work, you may have a gall somewhere- take it apart and inspect
it, and if it's messed up send it back for a replacement.]
