Manual/CNC lathe use

Hi all,
I've seen and answered several posts before about how to add CNC to
the lathe without losing the exiting manual threading and feed
features. Mounting the lead screw on the back has been mentioned as
well as disconnecting the lead and feed screws when operating under
CNC control. How to disconnect the ball screw to use the lathe
manually seems to be a stumbling block for some reason. I wonder why?
With the ball screw fastened between a couple of brackets at the rear
and the ball nut connected to a bracket mounted on the saddle, all
that would be required to regain manual control would be to run the
table all the way to one end (which end would depend on how the nut
is mounted) and unbolt the flange nut. Voila, the lathe is not
disconnected from CNC control. Reconnect the lead and feed screws
and your ready to go.
