Navel Jelly and washoff recommendations.

Hello all,
I used some navel jelly on sections of the ways of my mill and I was
worried about using alot of water to wash it off. I used a wet cloth
to wipe it off then immediatly dried with papertowels, then I sprayed
with a silicone based lubricant, and later smeared way oil over
everything.

Is navel jelly acceptible for ways? It worked wonderfully.
