I get the "Whine" even when the system is stopped. It begins
when the motion modules are loaded and stops when they are
unloaded. I really did'nt expect you to "fix" this since it
is probably some archane hardware problem. I use cheap power
supplies, motherboards etc. (K6-2 300, on a SIS motherboard
with integrated video) I also have it on a 486 dx4-100.
I just bought a second parallel port card and I will see if
it whines with it.
I have heard some "stories" of problems with sequential IO port
access with no interveening instructions on ISA or PCI ( can't
remember). I seem to remember a macro or something that was
placed between sequential acceses to prevent timing problems
on certain hardware. I'll look it up and get back to you if I
can remember where I saw it.
P.S.
I am making some progress on interfacing my TCL GUI to emc.
I used autoemc.cc as a skelton and I am adding a socket
interface so it can communicate to my GUI. Another week or two
and I will have a demo version.
