Thread Milling - revisited.

As I posted a short while ago I was going to try some course threads using
a 4th axis.
I have posted a jpg file in the files section called square thread.jpg
This is a close up of a 8mm pitch thread of depth 2.5mm deep cut with a 4mm
slot drill in one pass.
The program was one simple line of code X-40.0 W1800.0 F250.0
My idea was to remove the bulk of the material with a slot drill and then
change to a 29 degree 'D' bit to form an acme thread.
Unfortunately time didn't allow this as I needed the machine for another
job.
A pity as I wanted to do a double start thread next.
From the ease of doing this making specialised taps such as Acme form taps
for leadscrew nuts would be very easy. You could thread and flute all at
one setup.
