G201A

on 2001-02-22 23:17:59 UTC
Hi,

I haven't posted in a while. I've made some improvements to the G201
that were were requested. The improvements are:

1) Auomatic current stadby of 33% of set current after 1 second after
last issued step pulse,(disableable internally).

2) Modular 2-piece main connector. The connector is still a screw and
wire cage type but can now be unplugged from the drive. It is now
split into 2 six connection pieces.

3) The opto-isolator now operates at 8mA instead of 16mA. The greater
sensetivity better matches the drive capability of a LTP port.

4) The "Adjust" trimpot authority has been expanded to include low
inductance motors at high power supply voltages.

5) The drive is now configured to accept a pulse muliplier board as a
field-upgrade to a G210.

6) The drive can now be factory configured to a common ground
step/direction interface.

All these improvements are at no increase in price.

We have been very busy in the last few weeks. We have signed on with
a major nation-wide distributor for our stuff, however we
grandfathered in our existing customers at the $99 price in the
contract. This applies to the G201 drive only. We have kept back the
servodrive and and the pulse multiplied versions of each until we see
how we do with them.

I am now working on a 160VDC version of the G201. It is breadboarded
and seems to work OK so far. A lot more testing and circuit
refinement is still required. Mid-summer maybe for the first beta
units. Looks promising so far.

Also we have hooked up with a major motion control software developer
that is going to work with us on a Win 98/2000 version for the "dumb"
pulse generator hardware the was discussed a while ago. They came
around to the concept of an inexpensive multi-axis step generator and
are now very enthusiastic about it. This is also about 6 months out
as well.

Minor stuff includes a common servoamp design (+/- 10 vot input
transconductance amplifier) and a 3-phase brushless DC servoamplifier.

Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to fill everyone in to what I
am doing and let everyone know I haven't fallen off the edge of the
earth.
