An update, I just got off the phone with these folks, and this stuff
isn't exactly cheap. Certainly above casual hobby machine building.
The steel dovetail part, which they call the 'ram', is hardened.
The bearing blocks are available in recirculating ball, bronze, or
Turcite gib. What I asked for were slides with 8 and 12" travel with
Turcite. These are longer than stock for the 3" wide model, so I'll be
waiting for a formal quote, but the standard setup run about $700 per
slide.
My interest was in producing a real solid and capable machine for sale,
and stay under $10K. These might allow that, but they're not as cheap as
I was hoping.
