HI everyone.
Here it is!!! Here is how to turn on/off your spindle (or other
accessories) via the computer (thanks to my bro Zaig!!). Its Awesome!
I have posted a picture, schematic, and instructions on how to make
your own board. It is controlled via the input/outputs of the program
your using. The board consists of an optoisolator, relay, override
switch, and LED.
If your using CNCpro and sherline you can use pin #1 off the computer
(this will work off of F5) and ground from your driver board
(camtronics, for example) to turn on/off a relay. The relay will
connect and disconnect I1 and I2 on the sherline speed control. This
board can also be used to turn on/off other accessories as long as
one of the wires is connect through the relay.
Please note when CNCpro is started up it will have the input/output
terminal "ON" even if it says "off" on the screen..so on start up
your motor will be ON and the LED will show it is ON..please cycle
the switch to turn it off and have your machine off when starting up
(this seems to be a cncpro problem??). Also, please use common sense
and keep the main switch to the mill off when changing endmills,
setups, etc...don't trust the computer to keep the spindle off. I
found a red 110 volt light indicating when your Sherline is on/off
very helpful. This way you will not leave it 'On' with the speed
control at low thinking its 'Off.' Just connecting a 110 volt light
right to L1 and L2 on the speed control. Also as you know, make these
modifications at your own risk :)
Just click on the link below and goto my Schematic Folder! If you
decide to use this, please don't forget to send an e-mail to my
brother thanking him for his help/work. I would greatly appreciate it!
