I'm new to your list, and have been finding it most intresting and imformative.

Lotus cars here in England use a water jet system on a robotic arm to cut holes and trim the edges of their GRP (fibre glass) panels.
I have heard that you can add abrasive grit to the water to increase its cutting ability- i don't know if lotus's one uses grit though.

One way of controling ultra high presure oil at high speed is by using servo valves made by Moog . These have been used by team lotus and group lotus for controling active suspension on cars, they typically opperate at around 20-40 Hz. there is a but though..... they cost a packet ! probably out of the range for most people.

I hope this is of some use

By the way I'm considering retrofiting a Beaver NC5 mill (simular to bridgeport) with a auto toolchanger to a pc based control system, there apears to be 101 different cards and sub-systems avalible that could do the job, Ahha one appears to be ok but a bit pricey could anyone recomend one ?
