Battery charger for supply

Two potential problems:
1. may have a lot of ripple. Put a car battery on it to smooth.
2. SOME chargers won't put anything out if a battery has
a voltage below some minimum threshold, which is the case
if you have no battery present. Same solution as 1.
3. Charging batteries tend to release Hydrogen, which can
cause acid to form and places to explode. Nasty, as are
exploding batteries that are being charged too rapidly, or
that may have internal problems.
Glad I got that 24v rugged supply out of the ATM
(Automatic Teller Machine) I picked up at the scrap
yard. Lots of nifty toothed belts / wheels / steppers etc.
The bank wouldn't give me a penny for the 1-inch
corner of the 100.00 bill that was inside, and which
may have been responsible for the trip to the scrap
yard... / mark
