I have a friend who built one with a repulsion induction motor- no clutch. Another one I have seen the design for used a 1/4 hp
washing machine motor- no clutch. In this case a 16 inch plywood flywheel was used ( 2 - 3/4" discs glued together ) A 2"
diameter motor pulley was too slow, A 4" motor pulley was too fast and threw metal all over. . A 3" proved ok. . It doesn't
look like a clutch is required.. I have one of these part way built. I plan on using a contactor with a drop out time delay to shut
down after a few turns.
