Hi Bill,

steppers or servos?

there is a good article on servo supply sizing here
http://www.planetee.com/planetee/servlet/DisplayDocument?ArticleID=2394
that covers the point you mentioned pretty well for servos but steppers are
a different animal
depending on the driver used steppers can draw full current
at a standstill
