So far the mill is the biggest part, but the servo amps, motors, and STG
card can end up costing more than the mill... So, I will scrounge as
much as possible. The servo motors will come from either C and H or
Surplus Center (Lincoln NE). The Ametek motors that probably came out of
main frame tape drives are the ones that I am looking at. Dan Mauch seems
to be having good luck with his. They run $44- $69 each. New servo motors
are very expensive - $700 on up, so I don't think I'll be setting up a
commercial venture to sell servo CNCs anytime soon.
Servo amps- Servo Systems Co. has them for $275 on up for brush type amps.
Jon Elson, how is your servo amp project going? Do you sell amps pre- built?
Tach generators, encoders, flex couplers, etc... I will be checking the
surplus places for these.

Surplus Center- 1-800-488-3407
C & H- 1-800-325-9465
