Peter,
That's correct. I may not have made it clear that the 3/8" endmill
holder set screw is modified to a dog point that is an easy fit in the
pen holder slot but, not tightened, so the pen holder will slide freely up
and down. It's used only to keep the pen holder from falling out.
The trick is to have the spring length just enough to keep
the pen holder pushed down all the way with Z raised up but, not too hard
that to get light pressure on the paper requires undue force on the spring
to get the holder to free floating in use.
A dog point is a flat end with a short shoulder turned to a diameter less
than the thread root. This mod will still allow it to be used for locking
endmills.
