I had a B&S #2 universal for about three years. It is a good mill for
roughing or squaring up barstock. Most of them are badly worn on the Y axis
these days. The Y axis dovetail was inadequate for the loads imposed on it.
Also, the Y axis saddle lock has a tendency to tighten itself causing undue
wear on the gib and dovetail.
I spent six months scraping and fitting to get mine working. It was a good
learning experience but I wouldn't do it again unless my time was free.
