One power supply or 3 ?

Marty,
I have a similar project going here. The machine was one of two that came
out of the same
Vo-Ed center that had Anilam conversions done to them. I got the one that
was missing the
control but had the power supply,servo amp's ,etc. One had a single power
supply the
other had three separate supplies. The servo amp cards were made by the same
manufacturer, but were not physically interchangeable. Evidently, both
systems ran at
some point in time. I would have to go out in the garage and shuffle half a
ton of stuff to
see which box I wound up getting.
The advantage of using separate supplies is that only one driver card would
be directly
affected by a power supply melt-down. The tendency for axis interaction is
also reduced.
