The current servo systems use digital servo motors with a 'CERCOS' bus - does
anyone have an insight into this technology ?

It sounds like high power, high speed, and VERY expensive stepper motors to me.

P.S. If a low cost servo amp is developed, would you use a thyristor bridge or
transistor design ?
