Jerry! You have a very valid point that even an ol' po' tornado-bait boy can
relate to! I made MY first CNC lathe using an ancient PET to control it, and
it is still working to this day, though on it's 5th or 6th (old) PET. I
finally realized the 6522 chip in it was dying due to unmeasureables from
"the outside world", so, I buffered input to that with a 74HCT541, and no
problems, since! But I built another machine for operation from a PC's
printer-port (simple thing to do!), and monochrome, DOS-only "Notebook"
computers are available for $25 to F.O.C., plus postage, so probably, by the
time I figure out how to re-wire so a PC can directly replace the last old
PET, the PC will be obsolete, awready!!!
