I've been using what used to be part of Word Perfect Office for DOS.
Originally put there for editing WP macros (which I miss greatly and
use extensively in THIS editor for fixing and parsing stuff....), the
program ED or EDIT (earlier PE, for Program Editor)
can handle multi-megabyte files, can show stuff in text and split-
screen hex, supports WP macros, and allows one to browse thru ALL files.
(I own a copy, but have found it several times on freeware sites when
caught away from home with someone else's PC that needed some emergency
help....)
Look for ED.exe or PE.exe or EDIT.exe. Certainly, abandonware if not
freeware.
If you find one at a surplus outlet, it'll have calc.exe, a superb
decimal/hex/binary calculator/converter. Also one of my staples
that I've been unable to replace in the windoze world.
Ahhhh, Ctrl-F10.
By the way, I use it to massage files between gcode and a spreadsheet,
where the latter does the fancy math for those parabolic shapes,
and where PE does the bulk reformatting where I've messed up the
concatenated fields in excel which I thought would generate Gcode lines.
Just my .0133 (that's 2 canadian cents) /mark
