I'm not sure abou the closed bolt question. As far as the blow-back goes I
think I can help. You might be able to find a diagram or animation of how
this works on some web sites for paintball guns (most use a blow-back action
to recock the bolt/hammer). And yes, it's a residual pressure / opposite
reaction principle.
