In addition to Jon's page, there are two other sources of information about
EDMs that you may want to consider. One has probably already been covered
ad naseum in this group, but just in case.... HSM (Home Shop Machinist) had
a series of articles on building a machine with a stepper (they sell the
articles in book form now (see www.villagepress.com)
Another one which might not have been covered and which, in my opinion, is
probably a nicer design, can be found in 'Strictly IC' spanning several
issues. Because this is a copyrighted article I cannot, unfortunately,
scan and send this to you. If need be, however, I can find the address and
phone number of SIC and its publisher (Robert Washburn of Kent, WA) and you
can get the pertinent issues from him; this should cost about $15-$20.

But, take a look at my web page on my 'mini-EDM'. I used it for burning
out taps. It worked very well. If a fluid flow was added, it would do even
better. I hope that Fred Proctor has kept in mind the suggestion that there
be a way to control the feed of an axis by feeding a sensed EDM current
into one of the STG card's ADC channels.
