Evenin' All,

I have a meager 12" X 12" 3 axis router built with the MaxNc motion
kit that I cut out model aircraft parts with. I have used the
rudimentary CAM program that came with the kit for 3 years now and
trained myself to put up with it's idiosyncracies until I recently
came across (thanks to this group!) the "Ace" program. It's a dream
come true for my simple needs but I have a question for anyone that
is using it as well. It seems a little cheeky of me (since the
program is free) to bother the author with a possibly dumb question
and was hoping one of you guys could answer it.

In the "Priority Properties" box it has a "Close Enough" box. The
help file reads: "Set the close enough value. This value determines
whether the machine needs to release to the release plane to make a
jump from one entity to another. A rule of thumb would be to set
this value to half of the tool diameter in order to optimize the code
further." It all makes sense until he talks about 1/2 the tool
dia....that sounds almost like tool dia. compensation??

Anyhoo, thanks for any clarifying words of wisdom anyone can muster.
