One thing to remember -
Start Capacitors are AC electrolytics. If you attempt to use a DC capacitor
with the same capacitance instead, you stand a good chance of having it
explode!

run cap. Start caps are electrolytic, and may have such poor ESR that
a bridge may give unreliable readings without difficulty. But, the run
caps are generally oil-paper caps with good characteristics.
