Bridgeport Head

I just took apart a Bridgeport Series 2 CNC head and I can tell you
that there are no "cheap" bearings in the whole thing. The noise
problem with all the Series 1's and 2's is that there are so MANY
rotating components in there. You get all those rotating assemblies
and they are all going 3500 rpm, it's just going to get noisy.
Like someone said on this list, when the bearings go out, you'll know
it.
I run a Series 1 BOSS 3 which is pretty noisy but I think it all
comes from the variable speed and the Back Gear.
You can break all the 3/8" endmills you want and that machine will
never know it. It's when the endmill doesn't break that you have to
worry.
