Okay, I now hear that the virus is a worm, it is present on web sites,
particularly US related ones government ones. It has been written in China
and is targeted at the US government. It will activate tomorrow at 1pm in
the afternoon in the UK, or around 6am in the US. It will only affect
windows 2000 and the newest windows Me, not nt, 98 or 3.1. If you have it
you will see a message when you start your computer that says 'Hacked by the
Chinese. Your computer will help send emails out to government related sites
and search engines. It has not been called a dangerous virus so I don't
think you have to worry about it wiping over your hd. It must be stored on
the HD up until it activates, then it wipes itself until the computer is
turned off so they can't be done for harming people too much if they're
found. Switch off your computer when you see the message then turn it back
on. Connect to the net and double click the internet connection icon in your
toolbar. Close web browsers and wait, watching the connection, to see if
data is being sent out by your machine in excess when it shouldn't be.
