Hi, i will describe the circuit for a Hansvedt "Super 6" Eroder Mod. SE-280
It appears to be a 120 to 240volt center tapped 300 watt xmfr which has a 1000 watt heater element in series with primary. The 230 volt secondary goes to 2 diodes for center tap to 2 capacitors(total value 220uf.)in heat sinks, and the meter is green from 170 volts dc down to 24 volts where it turns to red. electrode is neg. and work is positive. output voltage at idle is about 170 v.d.c.
I guess this was used in a machine shop for digging out broken taps. I have not seen it in action. The shop where i used to work had a drill press like rig with a power supply simular to this one and they used to rotate the electrode slowly and drove the spindle by hand. It got canned after someone was shooting the breeze with the employee and leaned back and put his hand on the spindle.....It threw him on the floor where by he had a heart attack, but he lived thanks to the "EMT" crew there in less than a minute,,,I being one of them.
Nobody seems to know exactly how it was used. cul brian f.
